Our Tower 26 athletes have heard Coach Jim rave about this book over and over on our weekly team calls and Zoom coached bike workouts. We train our bodies and we need to train our minds to put all that hard physical work to good use. Often, the limiter in a race is not your legs, it is in your head. It’s about time you read this book and see what all the fuss..and the focus is about!

If you want to join our Zwift rides you need a smart trainer. It makes cranking out the miles indoors during the winter months so much fun. You may actually find that you decide to hit the trainer even during the summer because of the focused and targeted work you can amass. Of course, you do have to ride outside to prepare for racing. However, when you are juggling work, family and everything else in your life during the week a smart trainer is the ultimate must have.

What’s all the fuss with bouncy shoes? Well, nowadays you’ve got to have them. These are not your everyday trainers; use them in a few key workouts before your race and then on race day for that bonus speed.
Recovery time! Normatec is the go to for post workout, post race and post travel recovery. A session in the boots for 10-15 mins on race morning can also be beneficial. Plus, if you sit down on the couch with them on you won’t get up and do other things. Sitting still is also great for recovery :)

POWER UP! Often, a successful race is about making sure you don’t override the bike segment, especially in the beginning of the ride, and keeping that power output steady as you navigate the bike course, setting you up for a solid run. Many of you have been riding your indoor trainer and attending our weekly Zwift/Zoom rides, so a power meter will be incredibly beneficial to help you pace when you head out to ride on the roads. Plus, you can move the pedals from one bike to another depending on if you are doing a group ride with road bikes, hitting gravel or practicing on your time trial bike.

This is basically mandatory if you have a smart trainer. Plus, you can join our Tuesday / Thursday bike workouts which will have you race ready when 2022 rolls around. If you want to make indoor riding fun and enjoyable, this is a must have.
